Next Sunday 14th March 2021 is Mother’s Day in the UK. Have you been able to see your mum recently? Or are you a mum who is not currently able to see one or all of her children?
For over 20 years my husband and I have been parents and some of the most special images I have are ones of us with the children, or even us with our own parents.
That might be an image from years past or a more current one.
When I am working with clients, be they a Bride or Groom or young children or even teenagers I am always looking to capture those moments between mother and child (and dad as well - but let’s save those for Father’s Day!)
So, the type of images I particularly love showing a client are not necessarily with them both smiling at the camera in the traditional way. How about pure joy on the face of a mum with a little one cuddling them tight! Or pulling faces and looking completely silly but entirely happy together? Inuit kisses go down well (that’s rubbing noses - if you don’t know!) and just looking at one another showing their love.
A heap of bodies of mum and the kids messing around? Or the most gorgeous tiny moment of a little hand touching mums face or holding her adult hand/finger?
These types of moments happen when you are being yourselves – not worrying about the camera and they are normally towards the end of photo sessions with me. I know I have images captured and can then encourage my clients to have fun and just see what happens.
Sometimes the unexpected happens on a wedding day and it may not be to plan but a little bridesmaid sticking her tongue out as she walks down the aisle makes mums day and becomes a treasured memory of their little ones before they grow up so big.
With new-borns - mums face as she gazes down on her little bundle, her own little miracle – the love is amazing.
It can also work the other way when mother and child are both older and learning to enjoy each other in another way as both have grown and appreciate things differently – especially happy times spent together.
I hope you have some images of your mum, with or without you in them that you love to look at.
If you have children or nieces or nephews, godchildren or maybe you have moved on to Grandchildren! Make sure to get some images of you with them. Something for both, you and they to treasure and to remember all the love and happiness between you.
If you would like to arrange a photo shoot for your mum then please do contact me here Or if you are a mum yourself and would like some images of you and your children then why not book your own shoot! I look forward to capturing lots more special moments.
